AGM battery

Description

The original BMW battery with AGM technology (Absorbant Glass Mat) is a high-performance component in the vehicle. It is supplied ready for installation and offers a number of technical innovations. The battery is filled with sulphuric acid, which is 100% bound in mats made of glass fiber fleece. When current is drawn, the current flows, as usual, from the negative to the positive electrode. Original BMW batteries with AGM technology are twice as fast as calcium batteries in terms of current consumption and discharge. BMW models that are already equipped with AGM technology ex works also require a battery with AGM technology when the battery is replaced. Original BMW batteries with AGM technology are particularly recommended for models with a high energy requirement and high cyclical loads. -Can be charged twice as fast -energy can be released more quickly (especially with high energy consumption) -The heart of the BMW EfficientDynamics technologies -stable at low and high temperatures -robust against corrosion and internal short circuits -safe even when the battery is deeply discharged -long service life even during downtimes and storage periods Technical information: -no free-standing sulphuric acid in the battery housing, as 100% of the acid is bound in the glass fiber fleece mats (separators) -Greatly reduced gas leakage, as the gases are converted back into water via a special chemical cycle; neither gas nor electrolyte is lost -The gas is only blown off via a pressure relief valve if the pressure builds up too high (20 - 200 milibar) -No penetration of atmospheric oxygen through the pressure relief valve -rechargeable even after deep discharge, i.e. a battery can be recharged after complete discharge -Recharging function particularly relevant for vehicles with BMW EfficientDynamics technology such as brake energy recovery and auto start/stop function -Up to 3 times higher cycle load and therefore longer service life compared to lead-calcium batteries -Higher capacity stability -more reliable starting at low temperatures -Safe starting of engines with high starting current requirements -Low risk of accidents, reduced environmental risk (due to 100% acid binding)
