Alcohol Interlock Device

Description

The BMW interface for Alcohol Interlock is a preparation for connecting a breath alcohol-controlled immobilizer. After a breath alcohol measurement, it prevents drunk drivers from starting the vehicle. The BMW interface for Alcohol Interlock fulfills the retrofitting of an interface for connecting an alcohol immobilizer required by EU Regulation 2021/1243 for all vehicles with a production date from 07/2022. The BMW interface for Alcohol Interlock in combination with the BMW Alcohol Interlock Device represents a complete solution for the customer. The BMW Alcohol Immobilizer is used preventively in passenger transport to minimize the risks of drinking and driving. In some countries, the BMW Alcohol Interlock Device can also be used as part of so-called "drunk driving programs" on a legal basis. If a driver is legally convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol, the court can order the installation of an alcohol immobilizer instead of withdrawing the driver's license. Please note: Only the Alcohol Interlock Device is included in the scope of delivery. The BMW interface is also required for the complete solution. This must be ordered separately. Functionality: With the installation of the BMW Alcohol Interlock Device and subsequent vehicle coding/programming, it is no longer possible to start the engine without a valid breath alcohol test. Sales arguments/advantages Driving under the influence of alcohol often leads to serious traffic accidents. The new EU regulation and the retrofitting of the BMW alcohol immobilizer are intended to prevent this. Starting the vehicle or driving under the influence of alcohol is prevented with the BMW Alcohol Interlock. The BMW Alcohol Interlock Device is characterized by a very short warm-up phase and fast operational readiness. -Operation is possible in a temperature range from -40°C to 85°C. -The BMW Alcohol Interlock Device has an attractive and ergonomic design, the mouthpiece is located on the back of the handpiece. This means that it is not immediately recognizable as an alcohol interlock in the vehicle. -The hygienic mouthpieces are completely biodegradable. -The breath sample is dispensed with a single movement. -The easy-to-understand menu navigation on the color display makes use simple and self-explanatory. -The data memory of the BMW Alcohol Interlock Device stores the date and time as well as all relevant events such as giving or refusing a breath sample, the measured alcohol concentration, engine starts and stops or vehicle movement and any attempts at tampering. Once the data has been read out and transmitted, it is available to authorized persons. Data protection is guaranteed by special encryption procedures from the time the data is created until it is made available. -The BMW Interlock Device specifically measures the user's breath alcohol level. The measurement result is reliable and precise and is displayed as the alcohol concentration in ‰. Attempts at evasion or tampering are also reliably detected and stored in the system. The device can recognize whether the alcohol detected in the breath sample is breath alcohol or just mouth alcohol. -Concerned parents can equip their vehicle with the BMW Alcohol Interlock Device to prevent their children from driving under the influence. -Companies that provide their employees with vehicles can use the retrofit to prevent drunk driving and ensure that their company vehicles are not driven under the influence of alcohol. The BMW Alcohol Interlock Device enables participation in a country-specific drunk driving program. The special laws and requirements of the respective countries must be observed.
