The BMW Wallbox Professional is a bidirectional home charging station for Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV). With the permanently installed BMW Wallbox Professional, your BMW iX3 and future BMW Gen6 models become an energy storage system through bidirectional charging. It supports vehicle-to-home (V2H), is prepared for vehicle-to-grid (V2G) and offers integrated app control and other smart functions. -Bidirectional charging: Enables you to use your vehicle as an energy storage unit at home. It can not only absorb energy, but also release it again at a later time. The customer can simply set their departure time and charging destination, and the charging/discharging processes are optimized in the background. There are two main functions: -Vehicle-to-Home (V2H): store surplus energy from your PV system in the high-voltage storage system during the day and feed energy that you do not need for your next journey back into your home grid later. This allows you to cover your electricity requirements with self-generated solar power and become less dependent on the power grid. -Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G): Enables energy from the high-voltage battery to be fed back into the public electricity grid, for example to benefit from price fluctuations and support grid stability. By participating, customers can, for example, receive a bonus/rebate on their electricity bill. (For the time being only in DE). -With V2H and V2G, customers can significantly reduce their operating costs (TCO) for a BEV and contribute to the energy transition. -Only US/CA: BMW Home Backup System Professional: In conjunction with the BMW Automatic Transfer Switch Professional and the BMW Backup Unit Professional accessories, the Wallbox can automatically supply the home with up to 19.2 kW in the event of a power outage if a bidirectional BMW vehicle is connected. -Innovative design with intuitive LED status display: The wallbox offers a modern design and a vertical LED status display that shows the charging status and charging direction (charging/discharging) at a glance. In addition, there is a stylish ambient light that can display further information (e.g. status display, lost internet connection, etc.). -Easy operation and convenient cable management: The cable (ECE: 6 meters, US: 7.5 meters) can be individually mounted in the desired position on the separate stainless steel cable holder with integrated plastic plug holder. -Robust and weatherproof for indoor and outdoor use: The wallbox is made of robust and weatherproof materials, making it ideal for both indoor and outdoor use. To ensure the best performance and minimize noise from the fans, we recommend installing the wallbox in the shade. -Access control via automatic vehicle recognition or via RFID card: The customer can set the access control according to his needs: either by holding the enclosed RFID cards, by automatic vehicle recognition when the vehicle is deposited or alternatively via the setting in the My BMW App without any access control. Simple and cost-effective installation: The wallbox and any additional components, such as the Smart Energy Module for V2H, are installed by a certified electrician. There is a wallbox installation app that guides the electrician through the entire installation process. The wallbox in the home is connected conventionally via alternating current (AC). The charging processes between the vehicle and wallbox are realized by the integrated inverter via the direct current (DC) charging path. Safety: -All installed components are certified according to international standards and tested by the BMW Group. -In selected markets, the BMW Group and a partner offer expert installation by an electrician. The wallbox offers a high level of safety across all countries by meeting all country-specific requirements as well as electrical protection class IP55 and mechanical protection class IK09. The wallbox contains all safety-related modules for safe and reliable charging and discharging of the vehicle. Functionality: -To use the V2H and V2G functions, the wallbox must be connected to the Internet. This can be established via LAN (Ethernet), WLAN or eSIM and must be set up via the Wallbox Installation app. To use V2H, solar-optimized charging and load-optimized charging, a compatible smart energy module (smart meter) is required, which must be obtained externally from the electrician. -V2H is intended to be used in conjunction with a PV system to temporarily store the self-produced energy and feed it back into the home when required. Although use without a PV system is technically possible, it is not recommended for economic reasons. -V2G can only be used without a PV system and only if a corresponding electricity tariff from a partner electricity provider is available. The offer is subject to country-specific rules and regulations. -Combination of V2H and V2G is currently not possible. -The wallbox's home storage mode enables the combined use of V2H together with an existing home storage unit in the domestic installation. Compatibility with all home storage systems on the market and efficient interaction cannot be guaranteed in all cases. -Home energy management systems (HEMS): compatibility with selected HEMS will be made possible at a later date. Further information can be found on the homepage. -The Wallbox Installation App guides the electrician through the installation process. -The Wallbox Installation App can be used to keep the Wallbox up to date, change a variety of settings and call up the current device status at any time. It also provides information and instructions in the event of a fault. -The status display of the wallbox is shown by an LED bar on the front of the wallbox.
