The Wallbox Gen. 3 is a home charging station for all Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs). This allows you to charge your vehicle safely, quickly, and independently at home. Compared to the OUC base cable supplied with the vehicle, the Wallbox achieves a significantly shorter charging time. DC fault detection is already integrated into the Wallbox, thereby contributing to significant savings in installation costs. When the plug is connected to the vehicle, the charging process starts automatically without the need for any further steps. In addition to its space-saving, compact design in the BMW style, the Wallbox also offers convenient cable management, including a plug and wall mount. Since hybrid and electric vehicles are designed for specific charging powers, charging speeds vary depending on the vehicle. BMW plug-in hybrids, for example, are charged exclusively with alternating current (AC) and have a maximum charging speed of 3.7 kW. Higher charging speeds are available for all-electric vehicles: AC charging (alternating current) up to 11 kW. The Wallbox supports the specific “time-controlled charging” function. This allows you to charge vehicles only at specific times, enabling you to take advantage of particularly low electricity rates, for example. Pre-conditioning the vehicle is also possible. In the morning, you’ll find a fully charged vehicle that has already been preheated or pre-cooled. The energy required for this is supplied by the Wallbox while the vehicle is connected, thereby saving energy during the drive—to maximize range. The Wallbox’s status is indicated by an LED bar on the front of the unit. Thanks to this indicator on the Wallbox, you can always keep an eye on the current charging status, even from a distance. With the Wallbox Service App, you can keep the Wallbox up to date, adjust a variety of settings, and check the current device status at any time. Additionally, the app provides information and troubleshooting tips. Installation Instructions: - The wiring from the home’s electrical system to the Wallbox, as well as the appropriate circuit protection, is specific to each market and connection scenario and must be determined by a local qualified electrician.
