After the final coat of paint is applied, the carbon fiber part is polished to a high gloss (with the exception of open-pore carbon fiber versions). The carbon fiber components are certified according to applicable BMW standards. This is the only way to ensure that the high requirements—for example, regarding resistance to aging and temperature without cracking or paint peeling from the substrate—are met, and that yellowing of the matrix is prevented.
