With the Flexible Fast Charger, all BEV (= Battery Electric Vehicle) and PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) vehicles can be charged quickly and reliably both at home and on the road at household and industrial sockets. It is the practical alternative to the permanently installed BMW Wallbox and the robustly manufactured, ergonomically shaped plugs are comfortable to hold. Changing the adapter is simple and safe. The Flexible Fast Charger has a display for charging status, operating mode and error states. Thanks to a large number of interchangeable adapters, the Flexible Fast Charger is compatible with standard international sockets. It is equipped with coding, which automatically sets the maximum charging power for the adapter used. The optimum charging power is achieved without overloading the charging cable. The Flexible Fast Charger is compatible with all BEV and PHEV plugs in the Type 1 (USA, Canada, Mexico) and Type 2 (CE countries) variants. Charging capacities of up to 11.0 kW (16 amps, 3-phase for CE countries) or 9.6 kW (40 amps, 1-phase for USA, Canada, Mexico) can be achieved at industrial sockets (depending on the vehicle and market). The Flexible Fast Charger was developed in accordance with BMW Group quality standards and international norms. The Flexible Fast Charger can be stowed crash-proof in the vehicle in the supplied cable bag. Existing sockets and new installations must comply with all national legal requirements. Make sure that the cables and sockets as well as the circuit breaker and the fuse are designed for the maximum charging current that is permanently applied. BMW recommends that the charger is only used on sockets that have a separate residual current circuit breaker that is not used for any other circuits. All sockets and cables may only be installed, tested and maintained by appropriately trained, qualified and authorized electricians. Ensure that the socket outlet used is adequately earthed.
