Description
The antenna cover, made of aramid-fiber-reinforced plastic, is both a visual and functional highlight on the vehicle's roof. Due to the striking visual similarity between aramid fiber and carbon fiber, this product complements the “carbon” look of vehicles equipped with a carbon package or other carbon exterior components. Since aramid has high permeability to electromagnetic waves, the antenna’s functionality is maintained. Carbon, on the other hand, has a shielding effect and cannot be used for antenna covers. -The innovative material enables full functionality with a sporty, carbon-like appearance. -The antenna cover perfectly complements the carbon exterior portfolio. -The aramid antenna cover is particularly durable and corrosion-resistant. Material: -At BMW, “aramid” refers to the aramid fiber-reinforced plastic used in exterior components for special accessories, similar to how “carbon” is used to describe carbon fiber-reinforced plastic. -Aramid is a high-quality fiber-reinforced composite material that closely resembles carbon fiber in appearance and finish. Unlike carbon, components made from it have high electromagnetic permeability. -Aramid has a lower density than carbon and is therefore slightly lighter than carbon. -To date, aramid fibers have been used primarily in rally racing (underbody protection) or sailing (carbon-aramid hybrid sails), as well as in ballistic protection for bulletproof vests or in armored vehicles. Can be used in combination with a carbon roof. Only in combination with the cold-cure windshield repair kit, 1 hour (set).
