Description
The Shift Assistant Pro allows upshifts and downshifts in almost all load and speed ranges without using the clutch or accelerator. The assistant thus ensures noticeably reduced shifting times, a reduction in the strain on the clutch hand, and thus greater comfort and dynamics. -Shift Assistant Pro for comfortable and dynamic gearshifts -world first in production motorcycle engineering -Originally developed for racing, the shift assistant's function has been expanded and adapted for touring use -Permits upshifting and downshifting without using the clutch or throttle grip in almost all load and speed ranges -Advantages: More comfort with simultaneous dynamics -70-80 % of all gearshifts in a trip can be performed without a clutch -reduced shifting time compared to a shift with clutch actuation -Less movement between driver and passenger due to shorter gearshift pauses -gears are engaged as usual using foot force on the shift lever There is no shift assistance in the following situations: -shifting with the clutch engaged -Upshifts with closed throttle (overrun operation) or during deceleration -The shift lever is not in its initial position when shifting up or down -Downshifting with open throttle is supported, but can lead to strong load change reactions, especially in low gears -When driving constantly in low gears at high engine speeds, shifting without clutch actuation can lead to strong load change reactions. BMW Motorrad recommends shifting only with clutch actuation in these riding situations. Use of the shift assistant in the range of the rev limiter should be avoided.
